To Slaughter, 2009.
I used to work in a library, this was the “remote storage location” that our department had to go to every damn day in the heat (it wasn’t air conditioned at the time, of course it is now) to scan books for patrons. I hated those patrons. this film was pushed to 1600, it shows. apologies. I was also too lazy (at the time, and still…) to photoshop those dust bits out.

these are part of my “nightmare” series I did when I transferred to my current university. it’s sort of funny looking at them, because now I really hate them….but the process was fun and challenging at the time. each image is at the very least, three negatives. I didn’t want to do the weird Jerry Uelsmann thing where I used separate enlargers for each negative, I instead stacked them on top of one another and used a 3 or 4 contrast filter. the weird bird mask one is a paper negative. I was strangely obsessed with doing paper negatives and originally the whole series was going to be paper negatives…as in negative = nightmares and positive = reality, but I ended up hating that idea and only did a few of them for the project.
